NEWS

Local storeowners said the statistics don't lie -- the Easter holiday is a big moneymaker for chocolate manufacturers nationwide.

Last week, Burger King committed to purchasing 2 percent of its eggs from suppliers that do not keep animals in crates or cages -- a move the Humane Society of Penn State said the university should think about following.

Penn State students Amber Musser and Adam Veshecco both have jobs lined up for after graduation, which, according to a recent survey, is no big surprise.

A judge ruled yesterday to allow about 60 crime scene photos prepared by the Commonwealth to be shown at accused murderer Andrew Rogers' trial, denying the defense's claim that the photos would "inflame" the jury.

With his cheeks puffed out and his mouth full, Sheffield Marcus tried his hardest not to laugh, which would force him to either spit or swallow his mouthful of water.

Emily Volpini never thought her post-college job would involve driving a 27-foot hot dog.

Residents of a downtown apartment where an assault occurred last weekend that allegedly involved Penn State football players said they woke up yesterday morning to find an anonymous letter slipped under their door.

A man was struck in the face with a beer bottle and robbed while doing his laundry alone inside a downtown Laundromat at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, State College police said.

SPORTS

One match at a time; that's been the goal for the Penn State men's tennis team all season long. This weekend that mindset will be the main focus for the No. 34 Nittany Lions, as they will serve as host for two matches. Penn State (14-2, 4-1 Big Ten) will face Purdue at 3 p.m. today and No. 8 Illinois at noon on Sunday.

The Penn State men's rugby team is taking no chances leading into the USA Rugby Division I College playoffs.

Though the players and coaches of the Penn State softball team won't lead you to believe it, there is more on the line this weekend than just four Big Ten softball games.

After a month of being comfortable on its own home turf, the Penn State women's tennis team is heading back on the road to face two Big Ten competitors.

A week after four athletes on the men's track and field team earned a NCAA regional qualifying mark in their respective events, the team will look to add more members to that short list this weekend at the Tiger Track Classic.

Nearly all the tournaments on the Penn State men's golf team's schedule are "invitational." These days, the team is anxious to attend every one of them.

The Penn State women's track and field team will continue its push toward the Big Ten championships and the NCAA regional championships by traveling to Alabama for the Auburn Tiger Track Classic all day today and tomorrow.

Ohio State coach Miles Avery predicted that the three favorites for the national championships next weekend at Rec Hall would be Ohio State, Oklahoma, and the Penn State men's gymnastics team.

In the case of many collegiate baseball players, playing on a minor league baseball field is something that they can only dream of one day doing.

Cory Wine, a native Oklahoman, stood at first base in an April snowstorm.

This weekend the No. 10 Penn State women's lacrosse team will face No. 2 North Carolina (10-1) today and No. 3 Maryland (9-1) on Sunday at Holuba Hall in the ALC/ACC Challenge in what are two of the most critical games of their season.

It's time for the Penn State men's lacrosse team to be a little selfish.

With the regular season EIVA crown already in hand, to the No. 6 Penn State men's volleyball team, this weekend is about character, pride -- and for three Nittany Lions -- recognition.

Lost is without a doubt one of the most complex and followed shows on television today. It has spawned a plethora of message boards, fan sites and even it's own Wiki (Lostpedia), dedicated solely to the show and its intricate plotlines.

Willy Mason makes me feel bad about myself, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Will Ferrell in Lycra and sequins deadpans as he holds Jon Heder in a position that puts them crotch-to-face to the strains of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

The Ramones became the first punk rock band in 1974, and disco died five years later at a baseball game. These two events would seem to be unrelated.

Nostalgia was a big part of the latest version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story.
