OPP has been doing a ton to reduce our footprints. All new buildings have to be LEED rated, a portion of our electricity comes from sustainable sources such as wind power, and how about all of the natural gas and electric-powered vehicles. Students need to start chipping in more.
How many students leave their computers on over night just so they can have an away message up? How many students leave cell phone chargers plugged into the wall when they're not using them?
All of these things are wasting electricity, and ultimately costing us all in the long run. Does it matter that your phone charger isn't plugged in? Do people really need to know when you went to bed?
These small changes won't make a difference in your day-to-day life, yet they'll make an impact on this university's global "footprint."
