Commission expected to finish review
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission is expected to complete its review of discrimination complaints against Penn State "within a matter of weeks," Stephen Glassman, the commission's chairman, said.
"We're very close," he said. "We would like to be able to finish [the review] and have a meeting with the president before we make any public comments."
The commission began its review of complaints against Penn State Jan. 22. Glassman said at the time that he expected the review to be completed in March.
In a Jan. 25 letter to Penn State President Graham Spainer, Glassman wrote that the complaints were "from employees and students at Penn State related to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, national origin, and sexual orientation."
Football player cited in traffic accident
Penn State football player Spencer Ridenhour was issued a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk after his car struck a pedestrian, State College police said.
Police said Ridenhour struck the student Tuesday afternoon in a crosswalk on College Avenue as he was turning left from Locust Lane. The student landed on the hood of the car and then fell to the ground, according to the accident report.
The student initially refused an ambulance, but later went to the hospital for treatment for abrasions to both elbows and pain in her left wrist, according to the report.
A witness told police that Ridenhour was talking on his cell phone and did not check the crosswalk before turning left, according to the report.
