Reading Kristin Colella's "Simple things can stop global warming" (March 27) column offended my classmates, friends and myself, as it was so blatantly false and unfactual. I was not really surprised to find that it seemed as though her column was a simple "copy and paste" job from a politician's Web site. However, I thought it was common knowledge that cows aren't walking around breathing methane all over people. I could tell you where methane comes from and how it is produced and released, but I know you don't really care and besides, whatever Al Gore says must be totally true. You attack the beef cattle industry and say we should get rid of cows. Well, I guess the Creamery is a major cause of global warming too because the milk comes from cows. And if you think you are saving the world by drinking soy milk because now you aren't supporting big farms and agriculture, the joke is on you. Farmers still have to grow all the soybeans for your precious soy milk. Here's an idea. Why don't you stop attacking the people who feed you and take an agriculture class where you might actually learn something, or maybe even where your food comes from. I'll leave you with a little food for thought. Where would you be without agriculture? Naked, skinny and homeless.
