Riley Santillo, of State College, and her sister, Jordan, were two of about 50 children who participated in an early Easter egg hunt on Saturday.
"Can I make one more?" Riley asked her mom while admiring her tangerine-colored hard-boiled egg.
Riley, along with Jordan and her mom, Kris, were a few of many who participated in the first greek-sponsored egg hunt held at Delta Upsilon fraternity, 229 Locust Lane.
The event was put on by the four greek councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council.
"It's a community outreach event to reach out to the local state college community to show them we appreciate their support for Thon and events we do throughout the year," Angela Robine, a coordinator of the event, said.
"[The purpose of the event was to help] those around us, and doing stuff the whole community can benefit from, and not just the students."
To advertise the Easter egg hunt and other activities that occurred throughout the afternoon, 2,000 fliers were handed out at elementary schools, churches and gyms in the area, Robine said.
"We wanted to do something for the community and wanted to do something fun since it's the Easter season," she said.
Sororities that hosted and participated in the event included Alpha Sigma Alpha and Delta Zeta.
Grant Miller, IFC president, said he felt the event was a good opportunity to give back to the community.
"I came out because I think it's a great way to show how our greek community can give back to the borough," he said.
Jamie Silverman (freshman-advertising) said she was excited to participate because she never had the opportunity to dye eggs before. She said she thought the event was a success.
Silverman's sorority sister and President of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Dani Kominsky (sophomore-human development and family studies) said the event was a good way for her sorority to reach out to the State College community.
"It was an easy way to get involved with the community outside greek life and a lot of our members are interested in working with children," she said. "I liked watching the kids dye their eggs because they were really excited about it."
