Letter to the Editor
Reader believes professor needs remedial Bible study

Professor Nate Brown's letter ("Homophobics ignoring certain books of Bible") attacks what he calls "LGBT bigotry." It's simply a shame that a letter by a Penn State professor would be so rooted in ignorance and misunderstanding of the Bible and Christianity.

Professor Brown alleges that only Biblically-influenced bigots believe that homosexuality is wrong. What he does not seem to grasp is that those who truly believe the Bible also view heterosexual sinful acts such as extramarital sex and adultery with the same disdain. In addition, they are similarly disgusted with theft, lying, the worship of false gods, murder, rape and many other evil acts such as these as recorded in the Bible.

Homosexuals receive special attention these days, and their immoral acts are particularly accepted, defended and even promoted by some segments of American society today as a "state of being," an allegedly unchangeable genetic trait. This fallacy is often touted by promoters of the homosexual lifestyle, but unfortunately for proponents of such a lifestyle, scientific studies have come to no certain conclusions whatsoever regarding the presence of any "gay gene." This is quite the contrary of Brown's claim that "every reputable scientific organization agrees," unless the organizations' "reputations" consist of tolerance for homosexual acts. Professor Brown's letter reminded me of Romans 1:22. I suggest the entire chapter as required reading, professor, if you desire to truly understand Biblical Christianity.
