Letter to the Editor
Letter shows homophobia still an issue on campus

In response to the March 26 letter "Student supports Portland," I feel that I have to stand up for what I believe in. I'm sure many people think one is gay from birth while others think it is a choice. Regardless of which it is, there is no reason to support discrimination against homosexuals or any other group of people. I think I can assume the writer believes it's a choice, so would he support discrimination against other choices? A year ago I became Mormon, so would he support my employer firing me solely because I'm Mormon? I would think he would; after all, that's no different than what Portland did by removing girls from the team just because they were perceived to be gay. Apparently the LGBTA community still has much to work toward because homophobia is clearly present at Penn State.
