Penn State's FMLA President Caitlin Corr (junior-labor and industrial relations) said the concert is part of a national event called "Rock For Choice," hosted by the FMLA's parent organization, the Feminist Majority Foundation.
The event is meant to increase awareness regarding abortion rights issues and raise money for such concerns. Half of the money raised will go to the local State College Medical Services, and the other half will go to the Feminist Majority Foundation.
By hosting this event, Corr said the FMLA hopes to affect the politically apathetic attitudes of Penn State students.
"Penn State in general is very apathetic on certain views," Corr said. "We're so desensitized to certain issues, and we're not even really thinking about a lot of things. But, when we have events like this, these political events, they can at least raise more awareness."
Minor White Guitarist Kyle Wall (sophomore-marketing and journalism) said it was a good idea for FMLA to team up with Roustabout!.
"It's an overall good thing for the State College music scene," Wall said. "They do a good job of picking bands that all fit together."
Wall also had high expectations for this evening's show.
"A lot of people like the bands that are playing," Wall said. "And since it's a benefit, it will draw a diverse crowd from two different groups."
