Cleaning up Facebook a part of growing up

I read Mr. Mueller's piece about Facebook clean-up and couldn't help but respond ("Remodeling Facebook profile unnecessary," March 26). The "real world" comes at a price. You leave the binge drinking behind and realize that as an adult your behavior is under the scrutiny of those with more power than you. And let's face it, for a good portion of your life there will be someone in a position of more power than you. I know how this goes. My Facebook and Myspace accounts have "matured" with my entrance into the work world.

Think of it this way. Your resume reserves space for your academic endeavors, not that you survived your 21st birthday and drank all of the beers on the extensive list offered at Zeno's. And yes, when you publicly place content pertaining to yourself on the Internet you can consider it part of your resume. You can never tell just who is looking. And really is it worth the risk? Let me be the first to agree that giving in and realizing that your college days have sadly come to an end is a grim reality. But trust me it's not worth risking a great paying job for your last flex of immature muscle. Soon, you will learn to survive in a world of limited access and forced productivity. Trust me, you'll be busy enough. Rarely do they pay you the big bucks to do nothing. And if you figure out where they do, please let me know because I could certainly use the money.
