Letter to the Editor
Iraq still needs U.S. help

The Associated Press article "Thousands protest" (March 19) had too many assumptions. Republican or Democrat, I don't care. For Bush, against Bush, I don't care. Pro-war, anti-war, I don't care.

The fact is that we are at war. Cutting funds and pulling out of Iraq would cause chaos. The media makes it hard to understand that good is going on over there, but do some research and you'll see. Nowhere in this article does it say anything about the supporters of the war who were present that day. Please present all the facts if you're going to write about something. Whether you believe the reason we've gone to war, whatever you think it is, is good or bad, we have helped their community. There's no denying it. They are getting better about standing up for themselves, yet they can't do it alone yet. There are still plenty of terrorists and suicide bombers waiting to cause more destruction. It's also understood by now that these terrorists don't like Americans, so what is going to keep them from coming here to get back at us if we pull out now? It won't be long until we have to deal with acts of terrorism every day in the U.S. if we just pick up and run away. We started it there, let's end it there.
