This letter is in my appreciation for Penn State faculty and staff. I speak from evidence of being a grad student for the last four years and having been at two universities in the U.S. Penn State is indeed great. Let me explain this rather abrupt interjection.
Greatness of a learning institution stems not from its facilities or equipment. Penn State is great due to its faculty and staff. Had it not been for a kind professor who understood my situation I would not have been able to muster the resolve to get through this semester given a string of personal struggles on the family front. I stood in a position that might have seriously jeopardized my academic career .
My friends, we disparage some of our teachers (and we are sometimes justified), but kindly refrain from painting the canvas monotonically. Penn State is filled with great faculty and staff. I use the term to refer to the human aspect alone.
This is to all the faculty and staff who help us become succesful individuals and for all the staff and faculty who put a smile on the face of a student with a funny name 10,000 miles away from home, who open the door to enlightment a bit more every day.
This is to those who look beyond the boundaries and see the potential. To the staff who take the time to say hello. To these great people -- you rock!
