Letter to the Editor
Student supports Portland

I think it's sad that the LGBTA community pats themselves on the back for having caused Rene Portland's resignation ("Activists: Coach's departure step in the right direction," March 23). They say that it's a "step in the right direction." Let me say this: For every step the LGBTA thinks they take in the "right direction," there will be people who are willing to stand up for what they believe and what they know is right. I believe, like many others, that homosexuality is wrong. I am not racist, but when push comes to shove, I will stand my ground. So yes, LGBTA, congratulations on your latest victory. But remember, there are people like me at Penn State and around the world who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe is right too.
