What is your reaction to Rene Portland's resignation?

"When you think Penn State women's basketball, you think Rene Portland. She is responsible for putting Penn State women's basketball on the map. The program enjoyed a lot of success during her tenure.

Pat Summitt

Tennessee women's basketball coach

"She had a incredible career there. Accomplished some unprecedented success. I just hope she's happy with what she chooses to do next."

Jim Foster

Ohio State women's basketball coach

"I was shocked by the news. The sport of women's basketball has grown immensely because of coaches like Rene Portland. We are very proud of what she has accomplished in her career and what she has done for the sport. We will definitely miss her."

Felisha Leggette-Jack

Indiana women's basketball coach

"I think it's sad because the girls did get along with her. I think they'll continue along with what they're doing and supporting the Penn State teams and their traditions."

Kelly Mendick

senior - therapeutic recreations

"In my opinion you're losing a coach, but if she's speaking out against their beliefs and decisions, I don't feel it is acceptable."

Benjamin Mingle

freshman - information sciences and technology

"All of this is taking a toll on the players, you lose track of how the team is doing because of all the controversy. ... It's not surprising that she resigned. ... I think it will affect the team positively."

Tim Bold

junior - finance

"The basketball team sucks anyway so it won't make much of a difference. ... There's something fishy about why she resigned so abruptly."
