The Arts Crawl, meant to showcase the School of Visual Arts, will feature student artwork, art demonstrations and workshops, concerts from several local bands, refreshments and a raffle. Some of the musical performers include Epileptic Peat, Koji on the Roof, The Fiddlercrabs, St. Cloud, Lemonsoul and North.
The event takes place as a tour. Attending participants will travel through the Arts and the Visual Arts buildings, stopping for activities at different studios along the way.
Groups will be led by musical tour guide Jeff Kornberg from building to building.
"We were trying to make it a continual experience," SOMA president Danny Greene said.
VASA president Laura Bailey said the Arts Crawl will showcase different student artwork.
"It drew its inspiration from a pub crawl or a progressive dinner," Bailey said. "It's a tour that goes from place to place, and the goal is to highlight student artwork and all of the different areas that make up the School of Visual Arts: ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, new media, painting, metals, photography and art education."
SOMA arranged to have some mini-concerts interspersed throughout the tour to provide a different artistic aspect to the audience.
"This is the biggest integration event we've ever had. Art is inspiring the music, and the music is inspiring the art,"Greene said.
