Taste matters in 'fat' fight

Upon reading the article on March 9, "Battle over 'Fat' begins," as an alumnus of Rutgers University, I am outraged at Are U Hungry for trademarking the names of the fat sandwiches. These culinary masterpieces (along with their names), which satisfy even the hungriest college student, were not invented by George Tanios, the owner of Are U Hungry (whose name of business blatantly rips off another fat sandwich maker at Rutgers), nor by his uncle, but by Rutgers students almost 30 years ago. The grease trucks at Rutgers, which have been present on campus for nearly two decades, are basically an institution at the school. The fact is that if Mr. Tanios still owned a grease truck at Rutgers and he tried to trademark any of the sandwich names, there would be genuine student outrage and boycott. This is the reason why Fat Koko's were brought to State College: so Mr. Tanios and his co-owner could monopolize and make money on something that he did not create.

Are U Hungry, how about you honor a 30-year-old tradition by allowing fair fat sandwich competition? Regardless, the so-called "fat sandwiches" at Are U Hungry hardly compare to the real thing, and even if the ridiculous lawsuit wins, it doesn't matter what they're called. Mr. C's makes them better anyway.
