Local woman dies after car crash
A 75-year-old Milesburg woman was killed last Monday after the car she was in struck three different cars, State College police said.
Evelyn McKinley was pronounced dead at Mount Nittany Medical Center. An autopsy showed McKinley died from crushing chest injury and the manner of death was accidental, according to a Centre County Coroner press release.
McKinley was riding in a Buick Century operated by her husband, Gray McKinley, 78, at about 2 p.m. The car was travelling westbound on the 2000 block of East Park Avenue when it ran a red light and struck a State College police vehicle that was exiting the Mt. Nittany Expressway, according to a State College police press release. The Buick then crossed the median, entered the eastbound lane, sideswiped a Chevrolet Equinox and collided head on with a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, according to the release.
Gray and Evelyn McKinley were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment. Gray McKinley was receiving treatment for critical injuries as of last Monday, but a hospital spokesman said he was not listed as a patient yesterday. No other injuries were reported. Police said the investigation is continuing.
