Letter to the Editor
Former Penn State student disgusted by recent review

Adam Clair was clearly looking for a rise out of someone in his review "Repetition plagues Nickelback show" (March 5). Adam, I'm sure I'm not the only person you ticked off.

You complain that Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin and Nickelback all sound the same. Yes, they sound similar. Bands that sound alike usually tour together.

Good luck trying to find musicians like Joe Nichols and Devil Driver touring together.

You complain about the wait before Nickelback took the stage.

Maybe you missed the extravagant pyrotechnics and massive LCD screen on their set. That stuff doesn't set itself up. You mock Nickelback for having two guitarists, saying you realize that one is electric and one is acoustic.

Please notice that this is exactly why they have two guitarists. Ryan Peake plays lead guitar otherwise, and Chad Kroeger plays rhythm guitar. I had binoculars, and I was watching.

You then make a blithering fool out of yourself by saying Dimebag Darrell was a drummer. He was Pantara's classic guitarist -- probably one of the greatest.

Most of your sentences include cynical words like "vain," "obnoxious" and "monotonous." You take cracks at what they're wearing, what they say between songs. You say they're not technically proficient and lack integrity.

To everyone else, these guys are talented musicians, awesome entertainers and put on a phenomenal show. Who do you think you are?
