One rude fan can tarnish reputation of student body

This is in regards to Caitlin O'Malley's column "Penn State students need to show class" (March 1). In 2002, my wife Brenda and I were married in August, and as a wedding present we were given two tickets to the Nebraska vs. Penn State game that year from very close Nittany Lion friends. I was really excited at the chance to witness a game at Beaver Stadium, especially one as big as Nebraska and Penn State at night.

I know the actions of a few don't represent the whole State College crowd, but we were treated quite rudely by many a Penn State fan that night, having beer spilled on us and people cursing and threatening my wife when I went to the restroom. I know all Penn State fans are not that way, but as the saying goes, "One bad apple spoils the whole bunch."

My point is while some students and fans acted totally improper, not one "nice" Nittanty Lion fan stood up to apologize for their behavior. People need to stand up to the idiots who are giving your university a bad name.
