INDIANAPOLIS -- An elderly women held out a glossy sheet of paper for Jessica Davenport, who calmly wrote her signature on it, passed it to a teammate and looked for the next item to inscribe.

The No. 11 Penn State wrestling team's bid for an overall Big Ten title fell short today, as did the hopes for individual titles for the 10 competing Nittany Lion participants.

Michigan isn't a breeding ground for over-zealous high school lacrosse players, as Charley Henneghan remembers it. The sport has been mostly an East Coast phenomenon, but that didn't stop Henneghan. During his freshman year at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., he picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time to play games with his friends and eventually for the high school team.

In 1990, a phenomenon of the cartoon world was unleashed as a live-action feature film. It became the most successful independent film to that point, earning more than $135.2 million at the box office.

The venue is familiar, but the music is completely original.

It's inescapable. If you've lived in this world any time after 1970, you've fallen subject to the pandemic. You've been tangled in the web of the Fab Four. It's nothing to be ashamed of; everyone has been influenced by them, musicians and tone deaf alike.

There's always an unsettling feeling in the stomach when it's revealed that a band is going to reunite. The year 2007 should be sponsored by Pepto-Bismol.But perhaps the most unsettling of all this reunion news was the prospect of The Stooges getting back together.

There are 12 things you can learn from Joel Schumacher's new film, The Number 23. (I picked 12 because 1+2=3, then if you move the 2 to the tens place, then apply the 3 to the ones place, YOU GET 23. That's the logic you can expect from the movie.)

For nearly all things Canadian, there is an American doppelganger. They have their poutine, we have our cheese fries. They have their Tim Hortons, we have our Dunkin' Donuts. They have their Peter Jennings, we have our Tom Brokaw. These cases epitomize the general rule that we have them beat in just about every category.
