Group home site of investigated assault
Office of Children, Youth and Families and the State College Police Department are investigating an alleged indecent assault incident occurring at a group home at 143 W. Fairmont Ave., police said.
A case worker filed a report alleging that a 15-year-old girl indecently assaulted three other girls, ages 14, 16 and 17, while all four lived in the group home, police said.
Sgt. Dana Leonard said indecent assault can range "anywhere from indecent touching to something more sinister."
Student allegedly assaulted girlfriend
A Penn State student is being charged with simple assault and harassment for allegedly pushing, jumping on and choking his girlfriend, according to the criminal complaint.
Steven E. Olbeter, 24, is being held in Centre County prison in lieu of $15,000 unsecured bail.
His girlfriend told police she and Olbeter were verbally arguing before it turned physical, according to the criminal complaint. The girlfriend told police Olbeter pushed her three times until she fell on the couch, after which she alleges that he jumped on her and began to choke her, according to the criminal complaint.
According to the criminal complaint, Olbeter is 320 pounds and the girlfriend repeatedly told him she could not breathe. According to the criminal complaint, she broke free from Olbeter's grip, ran to the bathroom and locked the door. The responding officer said she had red scratches on her neck and chest.
