Not only did Illinois find redemption for last season's upset loss to Penn State, but the Fighting Illini also greatly helped their case for an NCAA tournament at-large berth.
The Orange Krush invaded Happy Valley and dunked all over the Nittany Lions on their way to a 68-50 win.
The Lions have not had a victory since Jan. 3 and their current 13-game losing streak is their longest since the 1984-1985 season.
Illinois's balanced offense was led by Shaun Pruitt with 20 points and Warren Carter who added 17.
Penn State was led by junior sharpshooter Mike Walker who nailed four three-pointers on his was to a team-high 14 points.
The disappointing loss also came on Senior Day for David 'Mooch' Jackson and Ben Luber — who made the start but was immediately subbed out at the 19:55 mark. Luber left the game because of a tendon sprain in his left wrist suffered this past Wednesday against the Buckeyes.
Sophomore forward Jamelle Cornley left the game with 5:28 remaining with a hip pointer.
