OK, guys, let's think for a minute. A lot of you are upset at Thon because you believe that it's just a way for greeks to "party" and show off (whether you are right or wrong on that doesn't matter to me).
What I want to know is, why do you care? Were you trying to get involved in Thon and were shunned away? By the way, there are more ways to be involved than just dancing.
Did no one let you donate the money you raised? Or is your pride hurt because they raised thousands of dollars each and you raised $20? So what if it's a competition? Your $20 still matters.
Let's even assume that you're right and greeks are participating in Thon for selfish reasons.
In this case, I think that the ends (raising $5.2 million in one year for children with cancer) more than justify the means (a selfish act of raising $5.2 million in one year for children with cancer).
Who cares what the "focus" is and where each and every greek's heart lies? If recognition is all they want for the amazing thing they're doing, why would you think that's such a bad thing?
