Shakespeare Competition to begin
Shakespeare comes to the State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave., this Saturday morning at 11 in the form of the 20th Annual Central Pennsylvania Shakespeare Competition. Admission is free.
High school students from participating schools around the region have competed for a chance to participate in the event. Each student on Saturday will present a memorized sonnet and a 20-line monologue.
The winner from the weekend will have the chance to represent the Central Pennsylvania branch of the English-Speaking Union at its National Shakespeare Competition. The final contest will be held at the Lincoln Center in New York City on April 23. Past judges for the final competition have included Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon.
