Everyone involved with Thon 2007 has about 5,240,385 reasons to be proud. My greatest experiences while at Penn State were the three years I volunteered at Thon. I volunteered on my own as an independent and ended up working as part of greek teams two out of these three years. These teams were filled with pride, just as their hearts were filled with love while playing with the kids on the floor, and their eyes were filled with tears while experiencing Family Hour. Work alongside these greeks before you question their motives and the reasons behind their pride. Somehow in this "politically correct, competition-free, 'let's not keep score because it might hurt someone's feelings' world, pride has become a negative word. Many of you may argue that it's fine to be proud, but the greeks are proud for the wrong reasons. What gives you the right to make this assumption? I say walk a mile in their shoes, or better yet lace up your own shoes and spend next Thon weekend working alongside them on the floor. I have no doubt that you will also be filled with a sense of pride.
