The former Penn State football player charged with the June stabbing murder of a Penn State senior will not face the death penalty, Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said today.

Student government officers are still in the process of drafting the rules for a special election that needs to be held this spring in order for the University Park Undergraduate Association to be able to retain its seats in the University Faculty Senate.

Accusations of racism, corruption and unfair advantages flew freely last night as two student political action groups debated school vouchers and affirmative action.

When the instructor arrived -- seven minutes late and pushing a cart loaded with glasses and bottles of wine -- the class didn't quiet down, but began to bustle with activity.

With admissions numbers up two years in a row, University Park will be instituting a waitlist for select students next year, according to admissions officials.

After 46 hours of nonstop standing this weekend at the record-breaking Interfraternity Council/Panehellenic Dance Marathon, dancers say life is basically back to normal -- it's just a little painful.

The Penn State men's swimming and diving team ended the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio, with a total of 295 points and a seventh-place finish.

On February 3, the No. 2 Penn State men's gymnastics team took to the floor against No. 1 Michigan and lost a heartbreaker to the Wolverines, losing by less than a point.

The Penn State Lady Ruggers seem poised to make another deep title run under coach Pete Steinberg and look to continue what has been an impressive season so far this coming weekend.

At his weekly press conference yesterday, Ed DeChellis compared Penn State's last two opponents, Wisconsin and Ohio State, to heavyweight boxers.

Brian Shea, a freshman midfielder on the Penn State lacrosse team, had the ball and was charging toward the University of Denver's goal. He spotted sophomore attacker Rob Forster -- who was even closer to the net -- and launched the ball his way.

Coming off of a school-record 39 wins and an NCAA tournament run last year, the Penn State softball team is expecting even better results this season and has set some lofty goals for the spring.

With five players redshirting this year, the No. 5 Penn State men's volleyball team is not that deep. Each starting player might have one backup for his position, leaving the starting lineup to shoulder much of the pressure.

The Montreal-based artistic theater group Cirque Eloize will be visiting the Eisenhower Auditorium tonight, bringing with them a State College circus, dance, music and of course, Rain.
