The former Penn State football player charged with the June stabbing murder of a Penn State senior will not face the death penalty, Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said today.
Madeira said he would not seek the death penalty for LaVon Chisley, 23, because the aggravating circumstances necessary to constitute a death penalty case are not present.
Chisley is charged with the first- and third-degree murder of Langston Carraway, 26, whose body was found June 5 in his apartment at 110 Northbrook Lane with 93 stab and slash wounds.
Through his lawyer, Karen Muir, Chisley has maintained he had nothing to do with the murder of Carraway, whom he was known to be friends with.
