Student reports stolen purse at Thon
A Penn State student's purse was reported stolen between 9:00 and 10:16 a.m. Saturday during the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon at the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State University Police said. Credit cards inside the purse were used to make several unauthorized transactions, totaling $4,875. Police said an investigation is underway.
Man takes out razor knife on CATA bus
An unknown man brandished a razor knife on a CATA bus at about 3 a.m. yesterday, State College police said.
A victim told police the man became belligerent on the bus and when the victim confronted him, he took out a razor knife. Police said the bus driver stopped the bus at 200 University Drive to call police, at which point the man fled the area.
Police investigating alleged rape
State College police said they are investigating an alleged acquaintance rape that a woman said occurred the night of Feb. 9 into the morning of Feb. 10 at a residence on the 700 block of West College Avenue.
The woman reported to police Thursday that she "may have been" sexually assaulted by a man known to her, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Inmate attempts escape, transferred
A prison inmate attempted to escape a transport vehicle that was taking him to the state prison at Rockview around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of East Beaver Avenue, State College police said.
Alan Murillo, formerly an inmate at the state correctional institution in Smithfield, tried to kick the window out of the transport bus he was being held on, police said.
He was contained and transferred, police said.
