A water main break along Curtin Road between the Palmer Museum of Art and Shortlidge Road has closed down the thoroughfare for two days to a week, officials said today.
A 10-inch water line ruptured early this afternoon, creating a break in the main and a hole 15 feet deep in Curtin Road, Office of Physical Plant Water Services Supervisor Guy Woodard said.
Craig Hess, an operations supervisor at CATA, said bus routes will suffer only a short detour along Park Ave., which he said should not substantially affect service.
"We've got it isolated and will proceed with repairs," said Woodard. Woodard would not speculate on how long the section of Curtin Road would be closed, but other staff on site offered estimates ranging from two days to a week.
Several OPP works said they thought the rupture was caused by "temperature fluctuations."
