Men's basketball falls to Wisconsin

Collegian Staff Writer

There was no magical second-half comeback this time, no opportunity for a meaningful buzzer-beating shot.

Third-ranked Wisconsin methodically created an 11-point halftime lead, outscored the Penn State men's basketball team by 15 in the second half, and defeated the Nittany Lions, 75-49, Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center in Madison , Wis.

Penn State (10-15, 1-11 Big Ten) has lost 11 consecutive games and remains in last place in the conference.

Senior guard Alando Tucker led the Badgers (26-2, 12-1) with a game-high 22 points as Wisconsin set a single-season win record with its 26th victory.

The Badgers took advantage of 12 first-half Penn State turnovers and built up a double-digit lead when Tucker connected on a three-pointer, his first field goal of the game, during Wisconsin's final possession of the half.

Wisconsin then pulled away in the second half, sparked by Tucker, who started a 16-2 run that began with just over 10 minutes remaining and ended five minutes later.

Geary Claxton led Penn State with 15 points. Senior guard Kammron Taylor added 18 for Wisconsin , which shot 50 percent from the field.
