Dancers excited, optimistic after 7 hours

Collegian Staff Writer

Bright-eyed and smiling dancers showed no signs of exhaustion as the early hours of Saturday ticked by.

The dancers looked as motivated as ever, even though the kids they are dancing for were tucked in their beds. Pat Campbell (senior-supply chain) dressed in pink from head to toe, was no exception.

“It’s awesome! The best time ever especially once you meet the families and understand why you’re here,” Campbell said.

The line dance seemed to be giving the dancers some moves to practice.

“It’s kind of hard to learn, but I have 46 times to get it, I guarantee by the 20th time I will have it,” Campbell said, joking.

Hilary Griffith (junior-engineering) traveled 2.5 hours from the Fayette campus with two friends so that they could dance this weekend.

“I know I’ll last [46 hours],” Griffith said.

Jamie Brockett (senior-animal science), dancing for the first time for Delta Theta Sigma, expressed the same enthusiasm.

“I am still energetic and excited, it’s a lot to take in though,” Brockett said.

The optimism is not only on the dance floor. Gathered in the stands, supporters promised to stay all night to support their dancers.

Adam Dorfman (senior-chemical engineering) danced last year, but is now supporting others.

“I wish I had the opportunity to do it again, but I had to give some other guys a chance,” Dorfman said.
