Think Pink promotion raises $20,490.96
The first annual Lady Lion Think Pink Day presented by the Barash Group raised $20,490.95 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
More than 8,800 pink-clad fans witnessed the Lady Lions post a 70-61 win over the Wisconsin Badgers on Feb. 4.
"All of us involved never envisioned what we witnessed on Think Pink Day," head coach Rene Portland said. "We want to thank all of our fans that helped us make this inaugural donation to two worthy breast cancer organizations. We are already planning for another successful event next year and in future years."
The official Think Pink Day t-shirts sold by the PSU Bookstore raised $8,465 for the Komen Foundation.
The post-game jersey auction brought in $4,620, while the in-game silent action raised $4,270. The Stomp Out Cancer Shoe was also successful as it accumulated $525.95 in donations.
The Lady Lions Cager Club donated $600 to the charity of Rene Portland's choice in honor of her 600th win at Penn State on Jan. 14.
