I needed to write in and clarify some of the Collegian's math about who uses bus passes ("GSA's bus plan not a feasible option," Feb. 15). Are you saying that no undergraduates ride the bus? That's what your math says.
Be objective; don't lie to prove a point.
I rode the bus to class daily as an undergrad; I don't ride it now as a graduate student. Maybe you should check your statistics. Does anyone know another way to have a pedestrian-friendly campus if we do not encourage public transportation? Can we at least agree that parking is atrocious? Another note, we are all funding the Loop and Link so that everyone who lives in East Halls can be transported to class free of charge - all thanks to the student activity fee. Think about that before you complain about one group subsidizing another.
A huge portion of the student activity fee was also supposedly diverted from UPAC to pay for gym equipment. Was that fair to everyone else? Will universal access make Penn State an easier place for everyone to live? Yes. Will it improve competition between apartments? Yes. Will it improve parking? Yes. All we are asking is for an open (and honest) dialogue on the subject, and student affairs to fund a survey so that democracy, not politics, can rule. But please, don't call us shortsighted for trying to improve the quality of life at Penn State.
