A small fire occurred at about 3 p.m. yesterday at the Hotel State College building, 100 W. College Ave. The fire occurred in the kitchen area in the air space between the second and third floors, Alpha Fire Company Captain Andrew Prestia said. It took about 30 minutes to extinguish it; there were no injuries and minimal damage, he said. Assistant Cheif Keith Yocum said the building was evacuated, but it was reopened by 4:30 p.m. Yocum said the fire marshal was still investigating the cause of the fire and he was unsure when the investigation would be finished.
