This weekend, one of Project Runway's aspiring designers will grace the stage at Thon to serve as host of the kids' fashion show.

Angela Keslar, who graduated from Penn State in 1995 with a degree in Integrative Arts, said she will be arriving at the Bryce Jordan Center at 10 a.m. Saturday.

However, she said she doesn't know when exactly the fashion show is scheduled to begin, and Interfraternity/Panhellenic Council Dance Marathon committee members would not reveal the exact time.

Project Runway, hosted by model Heidi Klum, is a reality television show in which contestants battle it out to see who will be America's newest top clothing designer.

Keslar was known for her outspoken attitude and arguments with Jeffrey, who ended up winning the show's contest.

When Keslar was a student, she said she was not a "joiner," referring to her involvement during Thon weekends.

Her boyfriend that she had senior year, however, was in a fraternity and participated in Thon, she said.

Keslar said she was approached by committee members and is very excited to participate and host the fashion show because she "loves children."

Hailey Apter (senior-advertising), a public relations committee captain, was the first to contact Keslar.

"I found out through the Penn State Alumni Web site that she's an alum, and I love Project Runway," she said. "I sent her an e-mail through her Web site."

Apter added that Keslar was eager to come and excited to be a part of Thon.

Keslar, who has been babysitting since she was 11 years old, became a nanny after graduating from Penn State.

"I just love children and to be a part of a charity that funds cancer research, I feel it's a complete honor, and Penn State is hosting it." she said.

Keslar, who now lives in Ohio, said State College is like "a second home" to her.

"I feel like I'm going home for Christmas again," Keslar said. "[I'm] definitely going to Irving's," she added, referring to the restaurant at 110 E. College Ave.

As a designer, Keslar said the best part of her job is "being her own boss."

Her experiences on Project Runway were both positive and negative, she said.

"I would say that [my experience on Project Runway] was one of my biggest dreams coming true and one of the biggest nightmares," she said. "I learned from both."

Katie Bucaro (sophomore-communication sciences and disorders), a morale committee member, said she is a fan of Keslar because the Project Runway alum seems to be "really original and funny."

"I've been a diehard Project Runway fan because I'm not artistic," she said.

"I love [Keslar] mainly because she did her own thing and didn't care what other people thought of her style."
