Due to heavy snowfall in the University Park area, continuing education classes will be canceled this evening and there will be a two-hour campus-wide delay tomorrow morning, Penn State spokesman Bill Mahon said.
Wednesday's classes will officially be canceled until 10 a.m. Penn State Campus Weather Service is predicting a possible accumulation of 17-22 inches through tomorrow.
Dining halls and other essential campus services will be following their regularly scheduled hours, and other Penn State campuses are not being affected by the delay.
Mahon said the university is encouraging students and faculty to check WPSU radio and the http://www.live.psu.edu Web site continuously in case there are any further updates.
Mahon said the university will be checking campus conditions to see if an extension of the delay is necessary.
Penn State has also declared a midnight clear for tonight, which means that faculty and staff parking will be restricted from midnight through 7 a.m.
According to Penn State public information, University Park campus mail stopped deliveries at noon today because of the rapidly deteriorating road conditions.
In addition, the Undergraduate Admissions Office is canceling all campus tours schedule tomorrow including admissions visits.
Also canceled is the Penn State Forum Lunch scheduled for tomorrow, which featured William Dietz, who is the director of the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention.
Faculty and staff who do not want to travel home tonight can stay at The Nittany Lion Inn or the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel at a special rate of $55 for single or double occupancy rooms.
