Meggan Quinn, a freshman guard on the Penn State women's basketball team, will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in her right knee in practice on Thursday, according to a press release sent this evening.
Quinn, who did not make the trip to Northwestern with the team this weekend, underwent an MRI this morning, Sports Information Director, Kris Petersen, said.
Petersen was unsure exactly how Quinn injured her knee, though on-lookers told her Quinn "came down and let out a little bit of a yelp."
"This is an unfortunate injury and we feel really bad for Meggan," head coach Rene Portland said in the press release. "Knowing Meggan's work ethic, she will fully recover from this injury and return to the court next season. She has a long and successful career ahead of her at Penn State."
Quinn is being tended to by Lady Lions' trainer Andra Thomas and two team doctors, Bobbi Millard and Wayne Sebastianelli, Petersen said. Sebastianelli performed surgery on Penn State football coach Joe Paterno's knee earlier during the football season.
Quinn, a Red Lion-native, had a career-best four points and four assists against nationally-ranked Michigan State on Jan. 25.
