Penn State will launch a nearly $600,000 program to target "dangerous drinking" at 20 Penn State campuses, Amy Neil, a member of the Penn State Commission for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), said.
Penn State will contribute nearly $344,000 to the program and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will donate a $250,000 grant.
"When we found out that the grant was available we thought it was an incredible opportunity," Neil said, who added the money would be used to create additional programs and to enhance programs already in place.
According to the press release, the CSAP will provide training and resources for campus representatives to help address substance abuse. See Monday's Daily Collegian for the full story.
