Women's tennis to face Temple, Princeton

Collegian Staff Writer

The Penn State women's tennis team will travel to the Garden State to face Temple and Princeton.

The Nittany Lions will play both teams at Lenz Tennis Center at Princeton University, where they will take on Temple at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Princeton at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

After two losses last weekend, the Lions are looking for their first win to be against Temple.

Women's tennis coach Buffy Baker said that the Lions have a good record against Temple.

"They have a young coach and a lot of new freshman," she said. "We know a couple new players, but it will be like facing a new team for us. It will make us better."

The team is also expecting a tough match against Princeton, who just came off a 4-3 loss against Florida International.

With their victory against Princeton last year, the Lions are ready for another day against the ivy league school.

The team has been working harder practices this week because of the upcoming matches.

"We have been on them, the girls," said Baker. "We have been tightening things up and creating a level in practice that will find it to be easier in the matches."

Senior Katelyn BeVard will be missing the rest of the season because of a torn ACL at North Carolina State last weekend.
