What would St. Patrick do
What would St. Patrick say about this "epic battle" to change his holiday?("Bars join 'epic battle' to move Irish holiday," Feb. 7). Would he ask his fellow Irishmen to join you in your quest? I think not. Sacrilegious is what the Irish would say. Now, if this holiday meant so much to the students here at University Park, I think they would have taken into account when they were planning their spring break, to make sure they would be back in State College for that Saturday. Another thing I don't understand is why the date was set on March 2. Why not March 3, which is two weeks before March 17? Is it because everyone wants to drink and go to class "three sheets to the wind?" I also understand there is a Facebook group promoting this change and that they have a whopping 3,000 members. I'm impressed because that is almost 8 percent of the total students here. It isn't like St. Patrick's Day isn't going to happen because school isn't in session. So celebrate the holiday on the date that is proclaimed St. Patrick's Day, March 17, wherever you are. And if you happen to be in State College, I'll see you at The Phyrst, bright and early. I'll be the one wearing green. Mackenzie Tomazin
