Linebackers
Chris Colasanti (MLB No. 4)
Andrew Dailey (WLB No. 7)
Nathan Stupar (SLB No. 8)
With the addition of three four-star rookie linebackers, Penn State is cementing its "Linebacker U" tradition for another four years. Each backer is ranked within the top 10 in his respective position, and Colasanti is widely considered the Lions' top recruit. If there's one impact position this year, at least when it comes to recruiting, it's at linebacker. Hands down.
Cornerbacks
Chaz Powell (No. 24 CB)
Stephfon Green (No. 38 CB)
Drew Astorino (No. 91 CB)
The Lions may have only recruited one four-star cornerback, but Penn State's three-star recruits are nothing to sneeze at either. Stephfon Green is made in the same mold as Knowledge Timmons and is one of the fastest players in the country. Drew Astorino isn't far behind -- he clocked a 4.45 in the 40 and was named the Pennsylvania Player of the Year (Class AAA).
Tight Ends, Wideouts
Jon Ditto (No. 6 TE)Andrew Szczerba (No. 12 TE)
Derek Moye (No. 57 WR)
With rising freshman Andrew Quarless coming off a solid rookie campaign, the Lions may not be in dire need of a tight end, but they still managed to grab two of the best in the nation. Ditto is simply too talented not to play and could possibly see some time at wideout with his 6-foot-4 frame and his 4.60 speed. The Pennsylvania native is even a hair quicker than Derek Moye in the 40-yard dash (4.65). As for Szczerba, he could easily be utilized as a blocking tight end or find a place somewhere else on the line.
Offensive Line
Stefen Wisniewski (No. 5 OG)J.B. Walton (No. 20 OG)
Josh Marks (No. 21 OT)
Offensive line was easily the most glaring need for Penn State, and the Lions didn't disappoint by grabbing a trio of four-star recruits. Wisniewski headlines this group and has the bloodlines to prove it -- he's the son of former Penn State football player Leo Wisniewski and the nephew of former Oakland Raiders' lineman Steve Wisniewski. Walton and Marks are also solid linemen.
Defensive Line
Devon Still (No. 12 DT)Kevion Latham (No. 53 DE)
Chimaeze Okoli (No. 58 DT)
Penn State recruited a slew of big-name defensive linemen last season, so there wasn't really a need to emphasize that again so soon. Regardless, the Lions have one especially talented recruit -- Devon Still, a four-star prospect, who was named to the Delaware All-State team as both a defensive and offensive lineman.
Safety
Nick Sukay (No. 10 S)
With rising sophomore Anthony Scirrotto, the Lions didn't need to worry about reloading at the safety spot. They may have only managed to recruit one safety -- but they certainly made the most of it. Sukay is a four-star recruit and one of the more talented safeties in the nation. He may not see much time his first season with the logjam at DB, but he could see some time on special teams with his 4.49 speed.
Tailbacks
No one
Penn State may only have one miss, but it's a big one. The Lions were unable to reel in any running backs, despite both Austin Scott and Rodney Kinlaw graduating after next season. Five-star recruit LeSean McCoy and four-star recruit Broderick Green were both targeted but neither could be swayed to wear the blue-and-white. McCoy signed a Letter of Intent with Pittsburgh, and Green decided just yesterday to play for USC.
Quarterbacks
No one
Unlike the tailback position, this gets a pass since the Lions' Pat Devlin has four years of eligibility remaining since he redshirted his rookie season. The Lions had no need whatsoever to target a big-name quarterback, and while they did pursue a few lesser-known signal callers, not pulling them in isn't a huge deal.
