The channeling of Barbaro in Chris Mueller's recent witty column made me remember why some men are referred to as pigs by the majority of females ("Barbaro bids farewell to his fans" Feb. 5).
He is vastly out of his league in speaking about a subject about which he knows absolutely nothing, and his gross lack of compassion is disgusting.
He makes the invalid statement that horses should be referred to as "it" instead of "he" and "she," as dogs and cats are called, because of their supposed lack of personality and affection.
Was Mr. Mueller personally offended by a horse in his childhood?
After reading this column in which he talks about horses being made into glue and dog food, I personally doubt that he has a personality or an affectionate side at all.
Maybe he should go by the same pronoun that he has arbitrarily assigned to Barbaro and the rest of his species -- it.
Evidently, he has forgotten that he wasn't actually present for the process of what was probably a very difficult and heartfelt decision for Roy and Gretchen Jackson.
I'm sorry for you, Chris.
More people will read the headlines about the death of the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner than your lame columns.
