Schoepfer invited to train with U.S. team

Big Ten All-Freshman selection Katie Schoepfer has been invited to attend the U.S. Under-20 women's training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from February 4-11. Players from this first training camp may be selected for a trip to Mexico to take on the Mexican Women's National Team from Feb. 18-23. The ultimate goal of the upcoming process is selection to the squad that will participate in the 2008 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Schoepfer's previous international experience includes a U-17 Olympic Development Program tournament in Ireland, where she scored two goals, including the game winner against England. She also traveled around Europe with the U-17 ADIDAS All-Star team and scored four of her teams nine goals.

In her freshman campaign for the Nittany Lions, Schoepfer tallied eight goals and five assists, including two game winners, en route to being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. She was also honored as a Soccer Buzz Mid-Atlantic All-Freshman pick.
