Women's tennis heads south for two

Collegian Staff Writer

The Penn State women's tennis team will be traveling this weekend to face off against No. 32 North Carolina State and Florida International.

The Lions will take on NC State at 4 p.m. today and then Florida International on at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

With a loss against Pennsylvania (2-5) last week, the team is hoping for a recovery. Although the Nittany Lions lost to N. C. State last year, the Lions are looking to come back with a victory.

"They are a great outdoor team, and we are anxious to play them indoors," head coach Buffy Baker said.

Baker explained that the team has been preparing for N.C. State through tough practices of physical drills and conditioning.

"Any match at this point is going to help us and put us on the track we need to be put on," said Baker.

The Lions are also anticipating a big match against Florida International. Throughout the years, both teams have split their wins and losses against each other.

"We are glad to compete against qualified opponents," said Baker.

Injury Update

Sophomore Lauren Holzberg, who will compete in doubles this weekend, is returning to the lineup after missing two weeks with an ankle injury.
