Penn State Nittwit ideals clash with fan philosophy
In regards to the letter titled "Alum defends columnist" (Jan.31), I would like to praise Bob Dinan for speaking up on an issue I believe most students agree with. During my four years at Penn State, I attended every game I possibly could. It didn't matter that we didn't have a huge fan base because the fans who did attend loved the team and loved watching them win or lose. Then the Nittwits came. Now don't get me wrong, the idea of a student section for our team is a great one. In fact, I think we had one before the "Nittwits" came along -- The Ed-Heads. And guess what, they never charged money or blocked seats, and they gave out free T-shirts to any fan who was willing to support our team. Every student, no matter if they attend one game or 20 games a year, is a member of the school and a fan of their team. I feel bad for all the Nittwits who try to defend themselves. I hope one day you realize that any Penn State student is fan of the Penn State basketball team. Segregating out individuals because they feel it's wrong to pay to be a fan isn't the Penn State way. Try that at a football game and let's see what happens. As far as Miss Brackett goes, if you were a real fan, you'd stop complaining and try to generate a fan base in a positive way, not by arguing over letters to the editor." Clifford Richmond
