Letter to the Editor
Unnecessary commentary takes away from column

In Joe Ramagli's most recent column, "Recent TV trends expose Americans," (Jan. 31) he brazenly throws a jab at the recent trend toward political correctness by saying "Christmas break, (oops, I mean 'winter' break)."

Not only was this statement intended to be entirely incendiary, but it has absolutely nothing to do with his column. If you want to write a politically-charged piece, then call it such and do so.

But this wry attempt to incite the reader serves no real purpose in the context of the column itself. What does winter break have to do with the media fight between Rosie and Donald?

Nothing!

In fact, it made me want to stop reading the rest of the (albeit poorly written) column. The Collegian should find itself a better writing staff.
