Visitors to the Bryce Jordan Center this morning may be in for a bullish surprise.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Professional Bull Riders Tour.

On April 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m., PBR will bring its tour to the BJC for the first time.

Kristin Van Scoyk, public relations and marketing coordinator for the tour, said this is not a rodeo in any way.

"We don't have rodeo clowns, roping or cows," Scoyk added. "This tour is strictly riding."

Scoyk said the Enterprise Rent-A-Car tour event is a minor league tour where riders earn PBR dollars for a spot in the Built Ford Tough Series, a competition among the world's top 45 riders. Scoyk said the tour is looking forward to traveling to Penn State.

"We are expanding a lot of our bull riding because it's more popular in the western areas of the country," she said. "We're really excited to expand on the East Coast, especially the northeastern coast."

Scoyk said bull riding is the largest growing sport in the nation and encouraged people in the State College area to experience it.

"It's the toughest sport on dirt," she said.

Bernie Punt, BJC director of public relations, said the PBR is one of the hottest shows on tour.

"It has been one of the top five requests every year, and we could never host it until now," he said. "It has been in the works for over a year now."

Punt said the labor and construction required to fill the BJC floor with dirt for the event was one roadblock in booking the tour.

Reserved tickets are $28.50 for adults, $15.50 for Penn State students and youth (17 and under).

Children under 2-years-old are free. Tickets will be available at the BJC, Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Downtown Theatre, The Altoona Campus ticket outlet, by phone at 865-5555 or online at www.bjc.psu.edu.
