The first- and third-degree murder charges levied against former Penn State football player LaVon Chisley for his alleged role in the murder of a Penn State senior in June were sent to trial this morning.




The Daily Collegian received the following letter from Pennsylvania's Human Relations Commission. It is Stephen Glassman's response to Penn State President Graham Spanier and the issue of reviewing the university's history of discrimination complaints.


Performers were stepping it up, quite literally, at the State College Area High School last night. The Black Caucus Mentoring Program presented the African American Support Group (AASG) talent show from 7-9pm.

Following a lackluster performance last Saturday, the No. 19 Penn State women's gymnastics team looks to turn up the intensity.

After winning the Temple Invitational last weekend despite a disappointing performance, the Penn State men's gymnastics team will get a chance to redeem itself this weekend against some familiar opponents.

For the third straight week, the Penn State women's track and field team will be competing from the comfort of its home facility.

If the month of January can be considered a short-but-challenging 400-meter race for the Penn State men's track and field team, this weekend's Penn State National is the home stretch.

Penn State men's volleyball coach Mark Pavlik is bringing out the measuring stick, and by the end of this weekend, the first assessment of the No. 9 Nittany Lions will be available.

The last time the entire Penn State men's tennis team played a match was in late October. Now it opens the spring season after a two-month layoff, but fatigue and rust should not be an issue.

The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the Shamrock Invitational in South Bend, Ind., this weekend, as they attempt to make one last push toward the Big Ten Championships.

This album will probably not change your life.

I'm usually a sucker for formulaic dance movies, so I knew I was going to have to see Stomp the Yard, no matter how embarrassed I would be to buy tickets.

Twenty more years -- apparently that's all it will take for humanity to reach the apex of its demise. In only double the lifetime of most of the student body at Penn State, mankind will lose the ability to reproduce and a nuclear holocaust will ravage the earth. Pretty bleak isn't it?

Why do most supergroups suck? Logic says that adding great musicians with more great musicians equals one great band.
