Football players excel during fall semester

Among the high achievers are: sophomores Gerald Cadogan, Paul Cianciolo, Kevin Kelly, Justin King, Sean Lee and Jordan Norwood and junior Jason Ganter.
Paul Cianciolo and Suhey are the squad's top students, with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average through the fall semester.
Franco Harris' Bakery honors Joe Paterno
Joe Paterno is getting honored on a box of buns.
The long-time Penn State football coach will have his recognizable likeness grace boxes of what are billed as nutritionally enriched doughnuts and cinnamon buns made by R Super Foods.
The company is based in Pittsburgh and is also owned by NFL Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris, who is one of the 80-year old coach's former Penn State players.
"Super Donuts'' and "Super Buns'' have 14 vitamins and minerals and four grams of protein, the company said.
The initial packages with a collector series card inside will be available beginning Jan. 25 at Giant supermarkets in the frozen food section throughout central Pennsylvania.
"Coach Paterno is a perfect candidate to be our first Penn State Super MVP -- Most Valuable Person," said Harris.
Paterno's picture is part of a promotion to honor sports figures that have "immersed themselves in their local communities, providing initiatives and community service that helps others,'' Harris said at a State College supermarket, flanked by Paterno's wife, Sue.
"I couldn't stop at just one,'' she joked about snacking on the food. "Joe has more discipline.''
