Letter to the Editor
Loyal basketball fan upset at criticism toward section

This letter is in response to the article in yesterday's paper "Student section lacking energy." I think Mr. Myers' statement of Penn State having the "the worst basketball fans in the country" is way off base. While the student section cannot claim to be the best in the country, it is certainly not the worst either. There are many loyal and vocal Nittwits who come out to the games to support the team. While I can understand the Michigan State game was a poor example of this, I would like to point out to Mr. Myers the Indiana game at home last season.

During this game the student section was loud and full of emotion in helping the team come away with a huge win. A few of the players came up to me and said that our support helped them win that game. I would also like to let Mr. Myers know that one member of the Nittwits won ESPN's "Miss Bracket 2006" which was an award for being the best female basketball fan in the country. These things just help show that there is a great core group of fans coming to the games and trying to change the perception of Penn State being a football-only school. In the end I invite Mr. Myers to visit me and the rest of the loyal Nittwits in the front row for a game this year and experience a little of what we enjoy so much.
