Student robbed at knifepoint

Collegian Staff Writer

Three unknown men robbed a local student resident at knifepoint in his downtown apartment Wednesday, State College police said.

The victim, who lives in the Beaver Hill apartment building, 340 E. Beaver Ave., told police a white man knocked on his door at about 1 p.m. Wednesday looking for the victim's roommate, according to a press release.

The victim told the suspect his roommate was not home and turned to get his roommate's cell phone number for the suspect, at which point two black men entered the apartment behind the first man, police said.

One of the black men said that their intrusion was a robbery and the white man pulled out a pocketknife with a four-inch blade, police said. The suspects ransacked the bedroom and stole a Dell laptop computer, a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

State College Sgt. Dana Leonard said the manner in which the home invasion was carried out does not match any recent incidents within State College.

The victim gave descriptions of the three suspects to police, who are asking anyone with information to contact police at 234-7150. The first man was described as white, 20 to 23 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches in height and weighed 205 to 210 pounds. Police said he possibly has facial hair and was wearing a white stocking cap with a brim, blue jeans and a sweatshirt-type overcoat.

Another man was described as a black man, 20 to 23 years old, about 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds. The victim told police the man has a thin build, dark complexion and facial hair and was wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket with the hood pulled up over the baseball cap and black faded jeans.

The third suspect is described as a black man, 20 to 23 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He is described as clean-shaven with close cropped hair, a medium complexion and wearing a black jacket, jeans and a white T-shirt.
